How I Cure

Behavioural Therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) can help you with a huge range of issues. Here are 3 examples of the programs I offer.

How Much Does It Cost?

For behavioural and cognitive therapy, the first session takes one and a half hours and is $180. We introduce each other, discuss how I approach our therapy sessions, gather background information and explain what therapies will give you the best results based on that. We will set some outcome goals for the therapy (behavioural and emotional) and create an action plan. You will also start learning some new tools in the first session. Therapy works best (and faster!) when there is practice in between sessions but this is completely optional.

Followup sessions are $120 for an hour.

On average, commitment to 4 sessions and practice in between sessions will give you some great, long lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis

If you have any other questions that are not answered here, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind; people are often surprised that they hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not seem any different, just very relaxed.
Most people are surprised at just how relaxing it is.

No Hypnosis is not dangerous when given by a trained and certified Hypnotherapist. The education and training to diagnose and treat is a key component in the success of hypnotherapy. Therefore it is considered safe for most people. It may not be appropriate for a person who has psychotic symptoms or for someone who is using drugs and alcohol.

Hypnosis can treat a large number of conditions and works well when combined with other modalities (approaches) such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

Conditions that can be treated include:

  • Weight Loss and Weight Management
  • Smoking
  • Anxiety and Stress
  • Phobias
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Grief and Loss
  • Pain Control

You don’t lose control or reveal any secrets under hypnosis unless you wish to do so. Most of the time, you will be aware about your trance-like state and would only do or say what you to and what is aligned with your values. You won’t say or do a thing that you are not willing to do. In other words, willingness of the subject is of extreme importance.

Firstly we have a preliminary talk and we will discuss your specific problems. These usually include thoughts and behaviours that need to be changed. I will talk you through what happens during the hypnosis session.

You will enter an altered state of consciousness through a hypnotic “induction” which involves deep mind and body relaxation.

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis defines clinical hypnosis as:-

“…a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. It is like using a magnifying glass to focus the rays of the sun and make them more powerful.”

Then you are given post hypnotic suggestions regarding the problem or area in the psyche to be worked upon.

You will return to full consciousness. I may give you “homework” such as audio tapes and worksheets. Consistent daily work is essential in reinforcing the changes.
